How Ultherapy Works

If you’re looking for a way to smooth lines and reduce the effects of aging, but you are not quite ready for a full surgical procedure, Ultherapy might be perfect for you! Ultherapy is a fantastic alternative to invasive face lift surgery. Ultherapy is ultrasound skin therapy. It works by targeting the natural collagen in your skin and stimulating it through the energy from the ultrasound imaging. This direct approach means that your doctor can find the precise location on your neck or eyebrows without affecting other areas. Keep reading to learn more about this incredible FDA-cleared, non-invasive skin lift!

How Does it Work?

Ultherapy deals primarily with collagen. Collagen is the main structural protein found in the skin and other connecting tissues. It works to keep skin firm, giving it youthfulness and a toned look. But like everything else in our bodies, as we get older our collagen begins to break down, which is why we get wrinkles and saggy skin. Ultherapy gives it a boost and reminds the collagen how to stay firm.

When the ultrasound therapy is applied to the desired location, its heat energy is directed at different depths of the skin to stimulate those specific areas: skin, muscle, and superficial wrinkles. When this is done, the collagen will begin to tighten and firm over time.

The Procedure and Aftercare

Since this procedure is completely non-invasive, there is no real prep for your appointment. Unless otherwise directed by Dr. Zelinger, you can work, exercise, and eat as you normally would right until the time of the procedure. Similarly, you can get back to your normal routine immediately after! This procedure is virtually painless and does not require any anesthesia or pain medication unless specifically needed. A gel or oil on the skin will help your comfort. Then, the ultrasound device will be placed on the targeted area by Dr. Zelinger as he works on the particular spot. A typical appointment only lasts about 90 minutes and that’s it! The area that was worked on may feel a bit sore, but this is temporary and quick to resolve.

Most patients will begin to see results from the Ultherapy procedure within 3-6 months, but some see a difference in just one month! While your skin will look noticeably younger and more firm for a time, your natural aging process will continue. We recommend repeating the procedure to further enhance your results between 1-5 years.

The average cost for Ultherapy ranges from $1,000 – $4,000.
